Everybody loves a bargain.

Soy candles have long been one of our favorites for personal use. If you’ve never used soy candles, we highly recommend that you give them a try. They burn efficiently and virtually soot free, produce an excellent scent throw, and, as a bonus, are eco-friendly. What’s not to like!

Recently we decided to make a concerted effort to introduce more of our customers to their virtues. During an intense brainstorming session we concluded that appealing to people’s love of bargains would probably be the best way to accomplish that goal. So we created a Discount Soy Candles page that features a never-ending sale on a wide variety of soy candles.

With the exception of select products that are not practical to include, all our soy candles are now offered at steep discounts. We even added some new styles of soy candles to give bargain hunters more choices. Passing along the significant savings on the cost of shipping candles in quantities of four or more is central to this ongoing promotion. When they purchase four soy candles from us at the regular retail price, our customers will receive a fifth soy candle and its freight cost for free, a savings of 20-25% per candle.

Admit it, Bunky, this sounds too good to pass up. You owe it to yourself to at least visit Discount Soy Candles and look around. Enjoy.

Fat-free Fundraising

June 8th, 2008

Let them burn candles instead of calories.

Are you fresh out of ideas for what to do for your next fundraiser? Already tried fattening cookie dough and sugary, tasteless chocolate with little success? Consider a fun and profitable fundraising program where all you have to do is sell your supporters something they buy already: scented candles.

Our scented candles are the ideal product for a fundraiser because they are a very popular consumable product that customers buy again and again. People can contribute to your fundraiser painlessly by buying a scented candle from your organization that they would have bought anyway. Because these highly scented, gourmet candles are available in nearly 100 different fragrances, it’s easy for folks to find one they like.

The best feature of these candles is that they are made from a blend of natural waxes that are non-toxic and virtually soot-free when they burn. This is totally win-win. Your organization can feel good about selling a healthful product that no one will have reservations about using.

The logistics of this fundraising program are incredibly simple. Your volunteers just circulate catalogs and take orders for a limited time, generally about two weeks. Then, using the money collected by your volunteers, you purchase the candles from us and we send them to you for distribution. Your group keeps the remaining proceeds, often as much as $12 per candle sold.

This fundraiser program can be used repeatedly with excellent results. Many organizations report better sales from subsequent candle fundraisers because their supporters have already experienced the high quality products. It’s not uncommon for supporters to call the organization to find out when they can get more of these wonderful scented candles! Contact us today to get started.

Women Are Naturals For Home Based Candle Business

June 2nd, 2008

Profiling isn’t limited to the FBI.

Since one of my business ventures involves helping people start a home based candle business, it’s hardly surprising that I spend time thinking about the attributes needed to succeed in that endeavor. During my latest brain storming bout it finally dawned on me that being female is practically de rigueur for an aspiring candle entrepreneur. Like any generality, there are exceptions of course, but my experience has been that considerably more women than men have a natural affinity for building successful home based candle businesses.

This phenomenon likely derives, in part, from the demographics of candle consumers. Many industry-sponsored surveys have shown that as high as 95% of all candle purchases are made by women. Whereas I am a little skeptical about the complete accuracy of those stats, I don’t need to analyze my candle sales data to know that the overwhelming majority of my customers are female.

I have noticed that men almost always shop for candles by themselves, and they are usually looking for a gift for a woman in their lives when they do. In contrast, shopping for candles is often a shared experience for women. And a fun one at that! Friends, sisters, and mothers and daughters can easily while away half an hour sniffing different candle fragrances or inspecting and handling a variety of candles and accessories.

It would be naive to think that simply being a woman is enough to succeed as a home based candle business owner. Obviously a combination of characteristics is required. But having two X chromosomes in your DNA sure helps.

As a general rule it is best to choose vocations that interest you. Selling candles is no exception. If you enjoy what you’re doing your enthusiasm will be infectious and, ultimately, your business will grow.

It’s not a news flash that selling is primarily the domain of outgoing people. Being an introvert is a very big handicap when trying to build and maintain a following of loyal candle customers. Gregarious people whose lifestyle provides a natural market of friends, acquaintances and organizations inevitably fare best in both the startup and growth phases of a home based candle business.

But even the most vivacious, well-connected woman can falter in any enterprise if she doesn’t possess certain skills and traits. Perhaps the most important, as well as the most elusive, of which is business acumen: an innate ability to recognize and exploit opportunities and have a clear view of the big picture.

If you’re reading this post and thinking, “Hey, that’s me she is describing,” please, please, please contact me ASAP. I’ll make you a star, kid. Well, I’ll help you make yourself one anyway. Think about it, you could be the next “Candle Lady.”
